I ran it-- and s/n is 48% to 14%. Not sure what that means.

I was on channel 6 as were most of the other nearby networks-- so I
moved to channel 9 which was unused with adjacent channels only lightly
used. We shall see...

Thanks again!

... and my connection is anything but "marginal." I know how to set up a
WLAN.

I've found that the problem is not easily reproducible. If BlueTooth is
on, sometimes the problem is there, sometimes not. The only consistency
is that if BlueTooth is off, no problem. I have noticed that even
during normal operation there is a lot of variability in what speed the
wifi n runs at -- the negotiated transmit rate varies all over the map
during a connection, although unless BT is on it never drops below, say,
50 mbps (usually it's running 104-120.) Since none of the wifi
transmitters in the neighborhood are close enough to cause any real
interference, I assume the variability is a result of other
environmental factors.

Also, if I take my Linux laptop (Dell D630, Arch) into the same room,
and put it to sleep, it never has any problems waking up to a wifi
connection and a good cup of coffee.

My wife's Macbook (last model) has this issue too, but it resolves
itself in a few seconds after waking up. I figure that the wireless
radio / chipset wakes after the processor and takes a little bit of
time to get going. This issue also seemed to crop up in Mavericks.
