I believe you'll be able to get Security Update 2014-001 according to the security update page. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT6150

You should be able to answer that by yourself. (It's not clear to me
how far back the bug has been there).

(It's not clear to me > how far back the bug has been there). The "gotofail" bug (SSL certificates not validating the identity of the server) was new on the Mac in 10.9, so 10.8.5 and all earlier versions are fine as far as _that_ security issue is concerned. There are a bunch of other security fixes included in 10.9.2, and many of those are also available for 10.7.5 and 10.8.5 via Security Update 2014-001. http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1727 (Lion) http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1728 (Lion Server) http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1729 (Mountain Lion) There is no corresponding security update for 10.6.8, and several of the issues fixed in 10.7.5 would clearly apply to 10.6.8 (QuickTime, Apache and PHP), therefore Apple is no longer supporting 10.6 with security updates. -- David Empson dempson@actrix.gen.nz
