I've been aging a problem in a number of applications -- e.g. Facebook, email, and this one -- ever since I upgraded to Mavericks. If I'm typing something and want to go back and make a correction in text I've already typed, I can't place the cursor at the desired point by simply clicking there. I have to use the arrows. Is this a "known issue" and can it be corrected?

I'm not having this problem, other than if I disable "rubber banding"

defaults write -g NSScrollViewRubberbanding -int 0

then eventually Safari will fail as you've described.

Rubber banding??? What's that and how do I get to it. Maybe that's the problem.

Rubber banding is the name given to the bouncing effect you see
when scrolling with the trackpad and you hit the beginning or end
of a document. It bounces a bit, as opposed to just stopping.

This will give you links to info about it...

https://www.google.com/search?q=os+x+disable+rubber+band+effect

...but if you haven't disabled it, it's probably not what's
causing your problem. You can try turning it off - for me,
Safari takes a few minutes of use before the scrolling stops
working, so you may have to do stuff for a while before you
know if it's made any difference.

I have rubber banding disabled and I've never seen that bug.
