I have been plagued for over a week by phantom audio streams (not advertising, sounds like a movie soundtrrack; different every day) every time I open a Safari window. The only way I can get rid of it is to disable javascript. Today I closed every window to see if that would stop the audio. Safari displayed an error dialog: global resource leaks 8 javascript global objects detected file a bug report about this This message only appears when every window is closed. Unfortunately, the messaage does not tell me HOW to file an error report. How does a non-programmer file an error report? TIA Mike

Go to https://bugreport.apple.com/ and start by following the
link on the "An Apple ID is required to use this tool" line,
unless you already have an Apple ID that works on this page.

How does a non-programmer file an error report? Summary: register with Apple as a developer (free), which gives you the right to use the bug reporter, then visit the bug reporter web site and file a detailed bug report there. Registering as a developer doesn't mean you need to be a programmer, and doesn't place any particular requirements on you. In particular, you don't have to agree to a non-disclosure agreement (which is part of the paid developer programmes), but you also don't get access to pre-release software. It seems Apple has made the link to register as a developer somewhat harder to locate, but I found it by going to http://developer.apple.com, then following the "Compare Developer Programs" link, which led me to: https://developer.apple.com/register/index.action You can use an existing Apple ID, or set up another one specifically for development tasks. Once you are registered, you can file a bug report by going to http://bugreport.apple.com Sign in with your developer Apple ID, then you can fill in a form to file a new bug report, view and add details to your previous bug reports, etc. When filing a new bug report you need to follow a defined structure, which is much easier to do since they updated the user interface. -- David Empson dempson@actrix.gen.nz

FWIW, today I do not have phantom audio streams, and I haven't done anything to get rid of them. Thanks for the advice, I will file an Apple Bug Report soon.
