"The system extension “/System/Library/Extensions/EMUL.kext” was
installed improperly and cannot be used."
I've seen this in the past and looked for answers online with no result
(others have the same question but nobody has provided a solution or
even a hint of the issue).
I just ignore it and nothing seems the worse for it.
A search of the Console logs shows nothing.

It could - but I got this error today on updating CS5-PS. I've had it
come up on other packages as well.

From
/System/Library/Extensions/EMUL.kext I find:
drwxr-xr-x 3 alanbrowne access_bpf 102 27 Sep 03:29 EMUL.kext
1. What is it doing under owner "access_bpf"?
2. All of the other kext's are 'root', not user.
3. A web search links that "owner" to Wireshark. I'll strip out and
re-install Wireshark next time I need it (rarely) and we'll see what
happens.

Maybe there is some clue inside it, like data in a plist?

I have Wireshark installed and don't have that file. bpf sounds like Berkely Packet Filter, which is also used by Nmap, pcap and others. -- Paul Sture
