Not the one that's in syndication. You're probably thinking of the
new CBS show that took the same name.

Orphan Black is a co-production between BBC America and a Canadian
company. I wouldn't call it "Canadian" more like Britadiacan or
something.

From what I've heard, unlike many U.S./Canadian co-productions, this
one recognizably takes place in Toronto.

By that logic the third season of Homeland was Iranian.

Good point. There's a Movie with Brando and De Niro and Edward Norton
[hang on --] The Score. Shot in Montreal, but it's not considered a
Canadian picture. Not a bad movie. They mess up some of the cultural
stuff about Canada, and they put a lot of the geography of Montreal in
the wrong places (going for good visuals).

Where's the Vangelis music?
Pris' tongue is sticking out in in the wide shot after Batty has kissed her.
They have put back more tits into the Zhora dressing room scene.

Was any of Homeland actually shot in Iran ? Most of it was shot in
South Carolina, with the same "faking" techniques to make it look like
Washington as productions make Vancouver or Toronto look like the USA.

No.

Neither was any of Argo.

And HBO's series "Rome" was not actually filmed in ancient Rome.

Don't tell me that _John Carter_ wasn't filmed on Mars.

Have you ever seen the very funny movie "Galaxy Quest?" The main joke
is that a race of aliens who have no notion of "fiction" intercept
broadcasts of a Star Trek-like show, and understand it to be a
documentary.

So they come to get help from the crew of this TV show.

Yep. Great documentary...

And as a way to bring this back to topic: the Mac guy in the MAC vs PC
ads was the one who saved the day in that event by giving the captain
technical information about the ship that saved the day.

And I have news for you: the ending, a ship did crash land on a stage
with lots of dust with the crew emerging from the hatch and the audience
applauding. This was not done witb CGI, it happened for real, hence
"documentary"

:-)

It is my favorite of the Star Trek movies.

Well, one of them, at least.

Some of it has been filmed in Israel, though. Which makes sense
considering the show's ties to the Israeli show it's based on.

I've only seen part of the the most recent season (so no spoilers,
please!), but I wonder whether they wandered away from NC for part
of it. The "Detroit" scenes have some Canadian actors.

The Iran stuff was shot in Morocco, I think; Puerto Rico stood in for
Venezuela.

Well, as I said, I've only seen a bit of OB myself. Maybe it
isn't like "Flashpoint," where you see the CN Tower every week
and they make references to the Don Valley Parkway and other
local streets/landmarks. So I wasn't using faulty logic, simply
skimpy information. If they don't identify it as TO, then fine,
it isn't a really really Canadian show. No skin off my back.

OB doesn't make a big deal about it (no CN Tower), but there are some
interesting Toronto locations in it.
