Once Mojave is up and going one thing I found annoying was the black
triangles to expand a sub folder were missing in Finder.

To restore
	View | Show View Options
		Group By [None]

and "Use as defaults" of course...

I don't recall an major version update ever doing that before.

I don't recall Mojave doing it either, and I just updated a machine to
Mojave.

Per searches other people hit the same thing. Hmm, let me check ...

... yep my SO's MBA has the triangles as before. I'll check my work
Macs tomorrow ... can't seem to screen-share to my office MBA.

Then you didn't bump into it.

I saw the same thing on a Mac running High Sierra and found a similar
solution. In that case it was "Arrange by Name" (not the same thing as
sorting by the name column in list view) or other categories, which
caused the loss of the reveal triangles. "Arrange by None" fixed it.

Testing now, the same issue exists as far back as Mac OS X 10.7 Lion,
but not 10.6.8 Snow Leopard, where "Arrange by" corresponds to the
selected sort column in List view, and there is no "None".

Mojave has replaced "Arrange by" with a "Use Groups" option.

If "Use Groups" is enabled there is a "Group By" submenu which works
like the Lion through High Sierra "Arrange By", including a "None"
option.

If "Use Groups" is not enabled, there is a "Sort By" submenu which
matches the selected column in list view, like Snow Leopard.

I can barely keep up with one OS version. Keeping all that gobbledy in
order back to SL is insane. You are committed. ...

I have VMs on my MBPro with all older macOS versions back to Leopard,
making it easy and reasonably quick to look up this sort of detail. I'm
intending to offload many of them soon to free up space, but will still
have them handy if needed.

I still find them useful because I'm often remotely helping people
running older macOS versions, and it helps trying to decribe something
if I have the same version available for reference. Saves me having to
remember way too many small details, but I do remember major changes for
each version.

I'm way too busy (lazy) to set them up myself. I want copies! : )

Mine weren't missing.

Sounds like the .DS_Store view settings for that directory were hosed
somehow.
