As of 5 minutes ago I have a new Apple Wireless "Magic" keyboard with
numeric pad.

Keys feel cheap. Tilt is wrong - will need to devise something.

Congrats.

I don't notice much difference between a couple years old wireless Magic
keyboard and the wired Apple aluminum extended keyboard. Neither feels
cheap to me; and both are excellent for fast touch typing - slim key
travel and very quiet. A typical PC keyboard is a royal noisy pain in
the ass to type on in comparison. The angle of the keyboard is perfect
for me too, and isn't very different than what you get with a Dell or
other mainstream PC. In fact my Dell keyboard is actually at *less* of
an angle than my Apple keyboard:

I might change this keyboard for the logitech wireless. Not happy with
it so far.

So in the current scheme of things:

- if I wake the iMac with the trackpad (wireless): 30+ s.
- if I wake the iMac with the power button: 1 to 2 seconds
- if I wake the iMac with the new wireless (Magic) keyboard: 1 to 2
seconds.

Try removing all external devices, then putting the machine to sleep and
see if the behavior continues.

That was the case on at least two days over the past couple weeks.

See my prior reply for next test: using the power button for "wake".
