#116833 — Odd Mail.app issue

Message-ID<slrnpguc52.2vqa.g.kreme@Snow.local>
Friend of mine showed me his 2015 MBP running High Sierra because the
mail.app preferences showed up as a small window labeled "accounts"
with no content. Could not resize the window, could not get it to show
anything at all.

Relaunched mail, rebooted. Reboot safe mode, nothing.

He said he first saw it today when he tried to update his password.

Any ideas? Never sen this before.

Sorry, haven't seen that here (yet?)...

Had that happen to me yesterday after a reboot.

in High Sierra, your mail accounts are stored in... wait for it...

~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.systempreferences.plist

So all the stuff Google tells you about com.apple.mail.plist is wrong.

You likely also saw your backgrounds revert to the High Sierra orange
scenery one as well as many others things.

If you look in ~/Library/Preferences/com. apple.systempreferemces.* you
are likely to see the .p;ist create when you rebooted, and then anothetr
one with random nunbers for file extension that is likely your original.

I restored mine from backup. You must then log out and log back in for
it to kick in.

Not wrong, Outdated. "Internet Accounts" was added to System Preferences
quite a while ago.

I don't think this is the issue, all his accounts still work.

for an instant, before the wash of octarine fire had mercifully engulfed
them. --Sourcery
