Now that OSX 10.11 has been shown and will be coming out this fall, is
Yosemite toast? I tried it, and it did not run really well on my 2.26
Core 2 Duo/8gigs ram. Is El Capitan really just a "bug fix" version?
Will it address all the problems that people have with 10.10? Will
this be the "Snow Leopard" that people have been waiting for? How will
Yosemite be remembered? Will it be another "Lion"?

Since EC is a peak in Yosemite... It could be considered a
pointrelease of sorts, since W10 should be lukewarm by its
 release date.

it still works but like mavericks, it will likely be removed from the
store when el capitan ships.

what did you find to be the problem?

nope. it has bug fixes and new features.

nothing will address 'all' the problems.

some people like it, some people hate it and others don't give a shit
one way or the other because they have real work to do.

Since 10.11 will use the graphics processor in your Mac for screen
rendering, you should see an improvement in performance - indeed that is
a major claim by Apple (up to 40% improvement in execution).

I don't know if your machine has a graphics processor that is covered by
the OpenCL/GL that 10.11 employs but recall my Core Duo (2007)
benefiting from OpenCL/GL in some apps.

As to shortest, no, they have been on a roughly 1 year cycle since 10.7
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OS_X#Versions
and seem locked to early June announce/Beta and mid/late October public
release since Mavericks.

As to how it will be remembered that goes into the "who cares?" pile.
