That's nice. You get to agree to a EULA before adding a card to Apple Pay. You can read that EULA and decline to participate in Apple Pay or accept it and participate. Please, please, pray tell what additional information does Passport get from a card after taking a picture of it and doing OCR on it to get the info ? I shall repeat the quote from the Apple web site: http://www.apple.com/iphone-6/apple-pay/ ## Setup is simple. Passbook already stores your boarding passes, tickets, coupons, and more. Now it can store your credit and debit cards, too. To get started, you can add the credit or debit card from your iTunes account to Passbook by simply entering the card security code. To add a new card on iPhone, use your iSight camera to enter your card information. Or simply type it in manually. The first card you add automatically becomes your default payment card, but you can go to Passbook anytime to pay with a different card or select a new default in Settings. ##

He just gets the wrong end of the stick at times, most obviously most recently on the question of what data Apple gives the bank when someone is adding a card to ApplePay that has not been used in iTunes. He looks at what Apple says about how you physically do that and assumes that Apple is saying that they only send the name, number and CVV to the bank when in fact Apple says elsewhere very explicitly instead that they send a lot more than just that without actually listing in detail what extra data they send because that would make it easier to fraud the system.

This isn't about what info a bank has on a customer. It is about the customer authenticaing him/herself sufficiently to confirm he is the one actiavting a card on Apple Pay. If banks have to take supplemetary measures such as forcinfg you to insteall their proprietary apps, then it means that Apple Pay does not supply sufficient information to allow the bank to authenticate that you are the rightful owner of the card.
