I found 5 or (or, for big leap in text handling) 6 pretty good for
almost everything, later is nice but mostly not needed. I have CS4 but
then I need the Illustrator that goes with it.

I started off with LE and then to PS7. I am currently subscribing to
the Creative Cloud Photography program at $9.99/month. That gives me PS
CC, Lightroom 5, 20GB of cloud storage full functionality of Lightroom
Mobile, and more. Updates are automatic and part of the subscription, a
much better deal than sweating on the old upgrade treadmill.

That said, there is so much more available in current editions of PS
and LR. Stuff such as the Camera RAW filter, the Adaptive Wide Angle
filter, an enhanced blur gallery, Content Aware fill, Content Aware
healing, Smart Objects, Smart Filters, and more, all of which can be
applied non-destructively. Also all the 3D features are included.

CS6 & CC are a big improvement over CS4 and PS3 & pS7 are downright
crude by comparison.

...and while I still use Dropbox, Adobe gives you another whole bunch
of image sharing, or collaborative work options.
So I can very easily post a Lightroom Collection with no cloud storage
penalty, just using the Adobe CC server.

It's hard to imagine why they do those things
i believe there's a reason but I'm not creative enough to reverse
engineer their decision process

but I found out about a program called defaults just today and it
has renewed my hope

but tomorrow if I find time that hope may get dashed as i learn
more

BTW; the asshole who asked if you were incompetent was using a pos newsreader, MT Newswatcher, that broke links and texts for years until recently ,when his new pos mac couldn't support it. Talk about an incompetent fool.

BTW: he' known as IT on all the other groups. They don't give IT the time of day there.

"defaults" is simply a Mac OS X command-line tool that allows you to set
preferences from the command line. It doesn't let you set preferences
that applications don't support, but does let you set some preferences
that are not included in the GUI Preferences windows of some
applications (often referred to as "hidden preferences"). You can get a
good idea of which hidden preferences are available by using the Secrets
preference pane, which connects to a community-supported and sourced
online database of hidden preference settings for many Mac applications:

<http://blacktree-secrets.googlecode.com/files/Secrets_1.0.6.zip>

<http://secrets.blacktree.com>

There aren't many hidden preferences for Preview, though. So you're
bound to be disappointed:

You still can't figure out how to fix your news client I see:

E-mail sent to this address may be devoured by my ravenous SPAM filter.
I often ignore posts from Google. Use a real news client instead.
