Oh, the irony.

see no reason why people should not buy things in whatever units they choose.)

Virtually all grocery containers in the US have the metric equivalent on the label. Probably a federal regulation, though the locals never use metric except for 2 liter bottles of pop. I think small producers are allowed to not add the metric equivalent if they want to omit it, as long as their product doesn't cross state lines. > A pint of beer is 20 bloody ounces, though. I quite like some of the American beers. An ice-cold Rolling Rock on a hot August day is fine by me. They ship stronger ones north, too. Old Milwaukee Ice is 5.5 per cent, and quite drinkable for a "discount" beer. -- Where's the Vangelis music? Pris' tongue is sticking out in in the wide shot after Batty has kissed her. Otherwise, you only get it as an import at specialy beer stores. Heck, it used to be illegal to ship beer between provinces (to ensure each province got its own beer brewing jobs).

As to be_e_rs:
Well it's all multinational now, but likely brewed to the corporate
recipe. I quite like Ricard's Red. Paradoxically, it's owned by Coors,
brewer of radical reactionary Rocky Mountain sheep piss. Go figure.
> Heck, it used to be illegal to ship beer between provinces (to ensure

Actually, that's a marketing ploy. Coors used it 30 or more years ago as
a way to generate market in the Eastern US where they wanted to expand.
They claimed they wouldn't ship east, so you could only get it bootleg.
Generated a tremendous demand among the 'Wow, I got something that's
forbidden, man' crowd. After establishing basic demand, they elaborately
caved to 'the will of the people'. Very effective lying, errr, marketing.

Well, actually the US military is not consistent. (Why is that a surprise?) The most common format is: dd (no delimiter) month as abreviation in all caps (no delimiter) yy i.e. 04JUL76, but they also use: 04 JUL 76 04 JUL 1776 04/JUL/1776 1776JUL04 1776 JUL 04 760704 040776 76 JUL 04 and numerous other variations on this theme. Leading zero is _always_ used. (And I have my own official military papers to prove all these variations.) -- For the cost of the Iraq War Crime (~$808 Billion, so far & just *direct* costs), we could literally fund PBS ($450 Million/year) for ~1800 years!
