Speaking about your momma, does she still do 3 buck tricks? When you were a kid did she rent you out to take it up the poop chute, or did you discover that all on your own. faggot?

Spock is on topic in any tech newsgroup. ;-) I was thinking about this last night. I was born in 1959 and one of my my earliest memories that I can confidently date is the assassination of JFK shortly after I turned four; I think I have a few earlier memories but there's no associated calendar event. I can remember the first broadcast of "A Chalie Brown Christmas" in 1965 and of "Batman" in 1966. But I don't specifically remember the first broadcast of "Star Trek" even though all the kids in my neighborhood watched it and we converted from playing "Army" to playing "Star Trek" around the neighborhood. Machine guns were replaced by phasers and the enemy switched from racist stereotypes of other nationalities to xenophobic stereotypes of aliens. Even then Mr. Spock was the coolest of the characters- we took turns playing him. Maybe we even learned a little something about the importance of negotiating peace rather than armed conflict and the value of making friends rather than enemies. We also learned that what is important is not someone's appearance but the value of their contribution. It is such a tragedy that these are lessons that did not stick in America- just watch Congress to see the failure to learn in action. I think that Leonard Nimoy lived long and prospered. So may we all.

I've always been amazed that Star Trek (TOS) ever generated the following and rebirth (TNG) that it did given that it only lasted _3_ seasons. Perhaps it was Nimoy's Spock which did it. Certainly wasn't James T(werp) Kirk. However, in my humble opinion, this is absolutely Nimoy's most memorable achievement: <https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AGF5ROpjRAU> The '60s will live FOREVER!!! ;-D
