Apple finally throw in the towel and make good.

This includes reimbursements for those who paid to have it fixed out of
warranty:

Additional Information
Apple is contacting customers who paid for a repair either though Apple
or an Apple Authorized Service Provider to arrange reimbursement. If
you have not been contacted, but paid for a repair that you think was
due to this issue, please contact Apple.

Long overdue, and it's a shame it takes a lawsuit these days to force
Apple to do the right thing. My MacBook Pro 17 is one of the effected
models, but I haven't pushed the video hardware enough to see any
problems with it. I plan to spend some quality time during the next
month or two pushing the hell out of it to see if I can get any of the
qualifying symptoms.

Hopefully it's one of the (majority) ones that is not affected.
