Expect Wall Street speculators to tank the stock in panic.

Maybe they will. Wall Street tends to operate in opposition to sensible
economics on a daily basis (and unfortunately American economic policy
has tended to operate along the lines of what's good for Wall Street
since 1980).

Buy the rumor, sell the fact. Which, of course, means a really good
entry point for those with a modicum of sense.

Right. When an earnings report comes out, the stock market response is
not generally based on the how the numbers compare with other companies
or previous results, but how they compare with EXPECTATIONS. Because
prior to the report, people were buying and selling based on how they
expected the company to perform.

Furthermore, quarterly reports also contain guidance about how the
company expects to do in the future. It doesn't help that Apple just had
a record quarter if they can't keep it going. If you think they're
peaking, this is the time to sell and take advantage of how well the
company has done so far. But if you believe their hype that they can
keep the upward trend going, you hold or buy more.

"They" are often delusional and misguided day traders or blogosphere
echo chamber puppets.

From the discussions on the newscasts yesterday, there were no rumors of
such outstanding iPhone 6 sales that Apple would have the best quarterly
profits EVER for ANY company.

http://www.bbc.com/news/business-31012410

Apple's stock price is up $7.50 as of this moment (after an initial jump
of $9), although I'm expecting it to settle down a bit before the end of
the day.

Well, it didn't settle down much; it ended up $6.56 above yesterday's price.
I still don't think this jump will last, but it's fun to watch. :-)

I doubt it too. Where there's a will, there's a way. And idiot Wall
Street speculators definitely have the will to tank it.

Best Quarter of ANY company in recorded history is announced.

Next morning stock opens 8+% higher.
Three plus times normal volume.
The stock closes on it low for the day.

Yep. The day-traders came to the casino today.

Go figure...

While Wall Street Casino Analysts have had premature stock evaluation
with AAPL rising to $117 from $109 on those news, the big question is
whether this success is sustainable in the long term or not.

Apple did fill a pent up demand. And was able to command even higher per
unit pricing. Wall Street Casino Analysts have wet dreams about such news.

But what happens if once this pent up demand has been met, people start
to keep their phones longer ? Look at what is happening to tablets. Will
sales plateau once smartphones are a commodity, or will the success
continue for the foreseable future ?

Once the Anal-ists start to see potential for negative stuff, they start
to publish all sort of warnings about AAPL and drive the share price
down on purpose. Look at what they did about tablet sales falling off a
cliff (according to them).

iWatch is also unlikely to dazzle those analysts.

Apple may have to buy a bigger piggy bank in its Irish offices to hold
all that money. (or send it all to me, I promise to make good use of it :-)

iPhone gets a free vacation to that country :-)
