Of course, these people are all hysterics or Apple haters or short
sellers, right?

My own attitude is best expressed by Kirk McElhearn: "I no longer want
to be the first to install an update to iOS or OS X, because I simply
don't trust that Apple will get it right."

I don't want to install Windoze because I simply don't trust Microsloth
to *EVER* get it right. :-p

From today's email, regarding an update of a program I use -

| Thanks for your help testing. I am confident that this version will
| work until such time as Apple decides to break it again, which they
| seem to do with almost every OS X release.

whoever authored that app needs to learn how to write better code.

there is no reason why something should break with almost every os x
release. well written apps that use publicly documented apis do *not*
break all that often, if ever.

anyone who blames apple for their own incompetence is a clue that
perhaps an alternate career path is something to consider.

Yep. I authored one particular Mac OS X app that is fairly popular in
the scripting community, hasn't needed any OS X specific compatibility
updates since 2007, and runs just as well today as it did then.

Have you seen this?

<http://blog.steventroughtonsmith.com/post/109040361205/mpw-carbon-and-building-classic-mac-os-apps-in-os>

You can compile for System 1.0 through 10.10!

No, I didn't know anyone had bothered to do that. That's pretty damn
slick. Thanks for passing it on! Bookmarked for future playtime. : )
