If he is a reputation manager, I am disapointed in Apple because
normally, those guys are careful not to insult customers, as Jolly takes
pleasure in doing.

Of course, discreting people is one way to make those people's
criticisms of Apple stick less, but in the long run, it doesn't work.

I *am* a customer, dip shit.

In your demented world, that might be true. And I can understand you
taking this position since the majority of what comes out of your mouth
is discredited easily. Here in the real world, those who continuously
lie and spread misinformation aren't held in high regard.

Nope. It was successful because people noticed that it provided the
ease of use the Mac was famous for combined with much better stability.

Not one customer in a thousand cared that there was a Unix layer in there.

Wrong again.

Assuming you meant respectively, Yellow Box was not Classic Mode and
Blue Box was not Carbon. Classic Mode was called "Blue Box", but that
leaves Yellow Box to be Carbon... ...which it never was.

nope.

yellowbox was originally openstep that was intended to run on mac and
windows systems but that never happened. it ultimately became cocoa, an
api for native mac and now ios apps.

bluebox is what became classic mode which allowed for running existing
classic mac apps on os x. it's been dead for years.

carbon is another api to write native mac apps, however, it's slowly
being deprecated and does not exist at all on ios.

Complete and utter bullshit. Again.

I know plenty of developers who *never* use the Terminal and know as
little about Unix as anyone could.

You are completely and utterly in every possible way wrong. You haven't
a clue what you are talking about and are just making shit up that has
no basis *at all* in fact.

OS X was developed because Copland failed. OS X was UNIX because it is
largely an update of NeXT Step. This is why so many classes are named
starting with NS, the NS stands for "Next Step."

Besides which, why would Apple waste many many hours writing man pages
for thing you shouldn't be mucking about with anyway. Most users don't
even know that Terminal exists, let alone man pages. :-\

I'm afraid that, if you can't understand that these are fundamentally
Unix programs (remember, all daemons are also programs) then there's no
point in discussing it further.

Perhaps you're just attempting to move the goalposts? I'm sure you
didn't actually expect me to respond to your inquiry.

Now, if you want to continue this little game, I'd be happy to play.
But I'm going to need a down payment - please explain how these are NOT
"Unix programs." Then we can play.

none of those are intended to be used by end users so there is no need
for a man page (which are mostly useless anyway).

Likewise, it's very convenient but very naive to assume that the mere
existence of bugs and release issues is evidence of a downward trend in
software quality.

This isn't FUD, this is genuine criticism. Sadly, while Apple's
problems remain unfixed, and while they are compounded with each new
release, they will see more people who are reluctant to continue to buy
Apple. Just as they were the early adopters of OS X, it will be the
alpha geeks who jump ship first. The trickle-down effect won't be felt
for a while, but it will severely damage Apple in the long term.
