The few negative comments I've read all seemed to be from extremely
clueless people who I wouldn't trust to put a chain back onto a bike,
much less fix something as complicated as a keyboard switch or
(horrors!) replace a PSU.

That said, my only direct experience with ifixit is ordering a few
things that I needed and getting exactly what I ordered. Can't ask more
than that.

I've ordered a few things from iFixit and never had any problem. I
did notice on one invoice that it was number 150,000. I sent an
email pointing out that I was their one hundred and fifty thousandth
customer and shouldn't I get a tee shirt or something? When my
package arrived it included a tee shirt; on the front is a picture
of a forearm gripping a wrench and the words "FIX IT YOURSELF". On
the back in much smaller print is a discreet "iFIXIT". I love it.
I've been complimented on it at the hardware store.

You need FootSafe, magnetic feet that detach when excessive force is
applied.

8 minutes to replace the glass?!?! It takes longer than that for the
glue to dry. ;-)

It took me longer to get it out of the box and remove the layers of
bubble wrap than to install the screen.
The actual placement took all of 30 seconds + another 45 seconds to
remove any smudges.

What glue? It is all done with magnets.

It is on that model. Newer iMac models are glued together making it
damn difficult to get into. :-(

Keep the old glass and make a jigsaw puzzle out of it for naughty

Right, now you need to stop being a *camper* just using any old table
to work off, and start being a proper *office* worker. Get yourself a
*desk* and there'll be nothing to trip over.

Of course the downside is you'll have to wear a bow-tie and one of
those green eyeshades that newspaper editors used to have.

But then he would have to have an IBM PS/2 the size of a closet and an HP
LaserJet II printer weighing at least 100 pounds!
