First: I like the new form of Spotlight which makes it so much easier to see exactly what it is going to do. Second: I also like the new appearance of the dock which is just cleaner in appeaarance. I'm one who is somewhat of a minimalist in that my dock only shows the currently open applications along with Finder and Trash. I have the dock centered at the bottom of the screen and configured to not be seen unless selected. Third: I like the dark menu with the white lettering along with the blue accent which highlights the current selectable item. This menu color scheme haarmonizes nicely with my screen background which is a picture of a cloud formation. -- James Leo Ryan - Austin, Texas

The whiners will be asking if their new iMac can go back to System 6, back to the days when Macs were Macs. -- I agree with almost everything that you have said and almost everything that you will say in your entire life. usenet *at* davidillig dawt cawm

I like lots of things about Yosemite and how all the things will come together with iOS's new version. BUT, I'm not enamored at all with the look and feel of it, no more than I am with iOS7. Whoever thought the default system fonts should be that thin needs a remedial class in readability. Not to mention the overuse of pale colors and then use shadings of tho se pale colors to delineate between sections. Pure idiocy imo. The overall flatness isn't anything good either, but it isn't bad enough that I actually care. I'll be switching back from the open Beta soon and will continue to run ML until the actual release of Yosemite. IF some much needed look and feel changes are made in the actual release I will upgrade. If not, I'll be deciding which OS I'll switch to. Fortunately for me all of this is just toys to play with so it really isn't a big thing to change for the mos t part. -- Lloyd from SurfacePro via NewsgroupsRT

Fortunately for me all of this is just > toys to play with so it really isn't a big thing to change for the most > part. My experience with the Mac, which goes back to late 1985, is that if I'm not entirely happy with the look and feel of a new OS I soon become accustomed to it and soon enough forget what it was I didn't like about it. The same goes for new software versions, whether from Apple or other developers. 32 years of living in the so-called Third World (S.E. Asia, the Muddle East, and East Africa) made me quite flexible and more prone to adapt than to complain. One place has no water, another no electricity, another has neither. Next place I get a pretty nice mud-brick house with glass in the windows and an earthquake knocks it down. Next place my office is shabby, but that's not a problem because the PFLP blows it up in a rocket attack and it gets rebuilt. My Mac Plus survives. Adapt or find a less interesting life. I can't forget what I don't like about that other popular OS, however. It fails utterly for me as a tool, and as a toy it's no fun because it seems as if there is always something broken and I prefer to spend my time playing with my toys, not trying to fix them. -- I agree with almost everything that you have said and almost everything that you will say in your entire life. usenet *at* davidillig dawt cawm

Johnny Ive is slowly moving the Apple OSes towards a shadow-style, like the iPod adverts were. ;-) There is nothing wrong with System 6 ... fast, effcient, takes up very little storage space, and is still much better than anything Microsloth has managed to "create". :-p

Which is the equivalent of saying only the fanboys will LIKE Yosemite. Neither are actually true. Some stuff I like, and some i don't... which is, generally, the case with everything in life. "The pronoun neither, then, is not invariably singular, though it is more often so. When formal agreement obtains, it takes a singular verb. When notional agreement obtains, it takes either a singular or plural verb. These constructions are neither nonstandard or [sic] erroneous. If you are writing something in a highly formal style, you will probably want to use formal agreement throughout. Otherwise, follow your own inclination in choosing singular or plural constructions after neither." http://english.stackexchange.com/questions/10304/which-is-correct-neither-is-or-neither-are But you got the other part right on the money. I'm a (graphics) professional who finds the Mac FAR superior that any other OS. So far, I'm liking Yosemite - minus a few shortcomings. The real test will be whether it's faster and more stable going forward. -- Words are like leaves, in that where they most abound, the fruit of thought is seldom found.
