It shouldn't, because with foreign file systems, OS X uses the
AppleDouble-like method of storing the Finder information, resource fork
(if any) and other metadata in a theoretically hidden "dot underline"
file next to the file containing the data fork.

The type/creator is included in this extra file.

The most likely problem is if something other than OS X is manipulating
files on the drive, e.g. copying, moving or renaming files on a Windows
PC (or on Mac OS 9 or earlier, which uses a different naming convention
and location for the extra file). If the "dot underline" file is
separated from the "normal" (data fork) file, then OS X will see just
the data fork and the extra stuff will have been lost.

There is other metadata which can suffer the same fate.

Another potential problem is that FAT32 has stricter file naming rules
than HFS+, so filenames containing some symbols either can't be copied
or have their names changed when copied to FAT32 volumes.

I keep at least two USB flash drives on hand. I use the FAT32 one for
cross-platform transfers. I use the HFS+ one for Mac-to-Mac transfers,
to avoid problems with files larger than 4 GB, loss of metadata,
filename limitations, etc.

I also have other flash drives formatted as HFS+ which I use for things
like bootable OS X installers.

There is a program for Windows XP that can format a USB flash drive
to NTFS. Windows 7 does NTFS natively.

FAT32 is limited to 4 gigs per file and one hour of HD video is
6 gigs.

There is a program for Mac OSX that allows it to read and write NTFS.

There is something outrageous about such a huge body of evidence being
put together, then being confirmed in all kinds of other scientific
disciplines, particularly genetics, and having other people just sort
of deny it for reasons that have nothing to do with truth.
