"If you choose to download an ISO file (so that you can create a
bootable file from a DVD or USB flash drive), copy your Windows 7 ISO
file onto your media and, run the Windows 7 USB/DVD Download Tool.
After you do this, you can install Windows 7 onto your computer
directly from the USB flash drive or DVD.
NOTE: When you download the ISO file, you must copy the file onto a
USB flash drive or a DVD to install Windows 7. When you're ready to
install Windows 7, insert the USB flash drive into your USB port or
insert your DVD into your DVD drive, and then run Setup.exe from the
root folder on the drive."
I am *fairly* sure that site mentions booting from a USB drive and
most of those are external.
Not that I think anyone is wrong or fifteen years out of date or
biased or prejudiced or anything.

It did. With Win95 or sometime around then.

That's talking about _installing_ Windows from a bootable installer on a USB drive. The installed copy of Windows is the one that doesn't like being run from an external drive, at least with versions of Windows I've installed (up to and including Windows 7, if I remember right). > >Wow. Huh? You can NTFS/FAT partitions and HFS partitions on the same physical drive. Of course you'd see decreased performance in the VM during Time Machine backups. -- E-mail sent to this address may be devoured by my ravenous SPAM filter. I often ignore posts from Google. Yes, at the expanse of performance - especially if the file happens to reside on the Mac OS X startup volume, since I/O from the VM and Mac OS X are going to the same physical volume. -- E-mail sent to this address may be devoured by my ravenous SPAM filter. This is an ideal setup if you want the performance of native Windows for games or other graphics intensive apps but also have less graphically demanding apps which can perform well inside your chosen VM and is more useful there (e.g. an accounts package where you want to import/export or copy and paste info to/from Mac apps). FWIW I've not come across this option with VirtualBox; that doesn't mean it's not possible but it's not a given either. Research required. -- Big Data is any data that is expensive to manage and hard to extract value from. -- Michael Franklin

In order, Crossover: its not very expensive, it doesn't require a Windows license VirtualBox from Oracle: a free virtual machine, but you'll need more resources and a Windows license. VMWare Fusion or Parallels: same need for resources and Windows license as VB, but you'll also pay for the VM software; I don't have an opinion currently on which is better Boot Camp: no additional cost for a VM or emulator, but the inconvenience of having to leave your Mac OS X environment completely just to run one program. What do you mean? Do you have an installer for Bridge Master 2000? Then you can install it.

Then you can install it. I mean that the steps involved in that web site requires me to have to have bought Bridge Master 2000 in order to install it.

You don't have to buy it; but you surely do need to have the installer on hand. How else do you expect to run the software? <http://www.codeweavers.com/support/docs/crossover-mac/install-windows> -- E-mail sent to this address may be devoured by my ravenous SPAM filter.
