i know you would love us to believe that's why you bring it up over and
over again like a broken record, but given that you don't harp on other
things, it's fairly clear that you're holding a grudge on this issue.

no grudge. it's the facts.

yes you have.

apple admits they screwed up maps and apologized for it and they even
suggested to use competing products!

you're in classic denial.

Nope. What I have said is that Apple Maps has worked well for me from
the beginning. That's it. And you just refuse to accept it.

While doesn't change the FACT that Apple Maps has worked correctly for

I almost never even open the app because it was getting so much wrong, but
I did try it recently when google maps was wrong and found it better on
that location, so maybe I should look more often.

That may be so...

That's the OLD highway; now called 17A.

Add the satellite imagery and look southwest down 99 about 1.3 miles...

OK. Now that you've reported it, check tomorrow to see whether they've
updated the database.

Have you reported that to them Alan?

From Michelle's link:

"Users can report issues with Apple's Maps application on an iOS
device by tapping the "i" button in the bottom right corner and
selecting "Report a Problem." From there, users can notify Apple about
incorrect search results, inaccurate street names, missing locations,
problems with directions, and more".

And they're still showing a 40-year-old strip mall near me as a medical
center. I gave up after sending five corrections. Got Google Maps,
don't need Apple craps.

Can't get much less responsive than that.

How many of your corrections has Google fixed in this time, for

FWIW: Several months before Apple's map app came out, I reported an
error to Google. It still had not been fixed when the Apple app became
available, and IT got it right. After a little more checking, I switched
and haven't looked back since.

Thanks for that anecdote. I've seen errors in Google Maps over the years
as well. I am sure there are plenty of examples of long-standing flaws
in Google's data. Logic dictates that in this fast-paced, ever-changing
world, there is likely no such thing as an error-free map.

Likewise, I switched to Apple's Maps as soon as it was released, and
have found it roughly similar to Google Maps in terms of map quality for
the areas and cities I frequent - so similar, I can't recall the last
time I opened Google Maps on my iPhone.

I find Street View to be largely unnecessary. So Apple Maps will do just
fine, thanks.

I use street view all the time especially if I'm going to a meeting
somewhere I've not been before. Useful to see what the parking's like,
what the destination building's like, etc.

While you are driving?
I can see doing that for trip planing, not for turn-by-turn navigation.

Of course not while I'm driving. I don't take the desktop with me, do I.

You could be using an iPhone, iPod Touch, or an iPad. Apple Maps &
Google Maps are used on more than desktops.
