And the full file path is available in the bottom of the Finder window, with each individual sub-folder being clickable. Or right / Command clicking on the name of an open document will pop-up a menu of the file path in many applications.

Probably an Apple bug - just like "Open With" occasionally still
(since 10.3) does not produce a list of applications from which to
choose.

Put "filename:" in front of the filename you want in the Spotlight search field, and you will get filenames with elements that begin with the specified text. You can get even more control if you know the advanced syntax, or via a Finder search window, by adding search rules such as "Filename matches". > iF i am looking for a recently downloaded submission from BelL Canada, I > want to be able to find it on the hard drive. It would be fair to assume that in 10.10, any new search categories will be added to the existing list in System Preferences > Spotlight, so you will be able to disable any categories you never want to search. The search field in Finder already has that in 10.7 and later via a dynamically updated pop-down menu, e.g. to let you specify that you want to only search the name property. > I cannot understand why Apple insists on claiming translucency is so > great. Judging from what I've seen in/about the keynote so far, the content area of an active window won't be translucent, just areas like the title bar, sidebar, etc. I've never liked the active menu bar being translucent, so I hope they still have a setting to turn that off. I don't mind the subtle translucency they added in the menus in recent versions, so if the window transparency is similar to that I'll be fine with it. -- David Empson dempson@actrix.gen.nz

That sounds needlessly complicated, and I didn't see anything in the Spotlight UI bar for 10.10 in the keynote. Just a large (NON-TRANSLUCENT) field to type in. > I cannot understand why Apple insists on claiming translucency is so > great. It does not appear that the CONTENT part of the window is translucent; it also seemed like the translucence was pretty subtle. We shall see.
