And if you follow that you find:

"For detailed information about the security content of this update,
please visit: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1222"

and if you follow that, you find nothing about any security fixes (if
any) in 10.9.2! -- so, did it fix "the bug" or not?

Here you go: <http://support.apple.com/kb/HT6150>

(Yes, of course.)

As I said in reply to the other thread, where did you find that link?
(other than, perhaps, by googling the right terms -- I can't find it
from the links in the update info itself.)

I am subscribed to security-announce@lists.apple.com. I got an email
this morning announcing the "APPLE-SA-2014-02-25-1 OS X Mavericks 10.9.2
and Security Update 2014-001". In that email was the text I posted
(along with a whole lot of other text), with this note at the bottom:

"Information will also be posted to the Apple Security Updates
web site: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1222"i

Visiting that page shows a "Security updates" section with the very
first item in the list named "OS X Mavericks 10.9.2 and Security Update
2014-001". Clicking that link brings you to this web page, which
describes all of the security fixes in the update:

The HT1222 page doesn't show that link for everyone. Yet.

Apple's knowledge base articles are distributed via the Akamai content
distribution network, and it takes a while for changes to propagate to
all nodes. There might also be caching issues with some ISPs.

At present, if I look at HT1222, the first items are still the ones from
21 Feb: Apple TV 6.0.2, iOS 7.0.6 and iOS 6.1.6.

The HT6150 article has made it to the Akamai node I happen to be using,
because I can go directly to that page. (Ars Technica posted an article
with a link, and it worked for me before I got the security-announce
e-mail.)

From past experience, I expect to see the links to the latest security
update articles in the HT1222 article about 12 to 24 hours after Apple
releases the update.

The security-announce mailing list is almost always a faster way of
being notified about Apple security updates. I received three messages
via that list earlier today: 10.9.2 and Security Update 2014-001, Safari
6.1.2 and 7.0.2, and QuickTime 7.5.5 for Windows.

Ah, yes, good point. That's probably confusing for some. In fact, I
remember encountering it once or twice. I like getting the announcement
emails. Everything you need is right there in the email message.

Interesting. When I load that page the string "10.9.2" does not appear
on the page at all. The top line is about the AppleTV update.

That works, however.

As has been discussed, it takes time to propagate to all Akamai servers.
This is why I prefer to get the email announcements directly from Apple.

Yup, and notice the tense of the verb in the quoted sentence:

It didn't contain that yesterday after I installed the update. Yes, I
did flush the Safari cache just in case. But it is there today.

As has been discussed, it takes time to propagate to all Akamai servers.
This is why I prefer to get the email announcements directly from Apple.

I tend to run "software update" every day anyway, just to see what's
there.

2 MacBook Pros (Air and Retina), both reverted to a very old set of
Safari bookmarks. I had to export from my backup.

Also it turned on iCloud: Mail, Safari, Reminders and Documents & Data.
I had these boxes unchecked previously.

So far everything else seems ok but these changes were unexpected.

No problems so far here on several different Macs.

<https://gotofail.com> reports "Safe" for each of them.

My laptop at work booted with both the internal and external monitor
backlights completely off. A forced reboot didn't fix it and the
brightness keys didn't work. I had to unplug the external monitor and
shine a light through the Apple logo to log in. The backlight keys then
worked after login finished.

So. It really is good for something besides advertising.

I had no trouble, at all. As for Safari, I only have about
50 bookmarks, though.
