:-)

Oh. I thought it meant that they won't take responsibility for the
passenger next to you on the train/plane/bus playing their iThing too
loud.

Or singing off key to the music they are listening to. :-)

It's one of those weird bits of legalese.

You say that as though you think there's such a thing as "not weird"
legalese...

It's especially weird to use it in a software license, since that
definition refers specifically to use of real estate. They're
disclaiming a warranty of quiet enjoyment, but it seems like there
wouldn't be an implied covenant of it in the first place.

I guess it's just some boilerplate that lawyers throw into all their
licenses. Presumably there's no harm in disclaiming something that
wasn't assumed.

I am convinced that some lawyers are paid by the word. That is the only
reason I can find for some of the more convoluted requirements of
hospital privacy policies....

They don't want the victim to understand what they are signing, and if
you need medical care now, it's tough to get a lawyer to go over it in
real time.

Clearly boilerplate, but I'm wondering who in their right mind would add
it to a source code disclaimer.

Duh! The folks that got sued on that basis.
