In previous OS's the activity monitor would display a legend (graph label) with the network activity graph so you could eyeball what the speed was. The new one doesn't label the graph -- the only way you can tell the speed is by reading the numbers that display on the right hand side, which of course change frequently. Anyone know if there is anyway of getting scale labels on the new graph, or if an older version of activity monitor could be used? (I doubt the latter would work, however.) --- Ted

It's more configurable and worth it, to me, to have a more global view of what's going on at any one time. XRG is free, but doesn't do menubar status. MenuMeters might also work but I don't know if it works on Mavericks. -- DeeDee, don't press that button! DeeDee! NO! Dee... If all you want is display of system performance activity, XRG is great for that. -- DeeDee, don't press that button! DeeDee! NO! Dee... You can see a glimps of what iStat Menus does right here: <http://bjango.com/mac/istatmenus/> Read the whole page and you can see the amount of information iStat menus gives you is quite extensive - plenty for me, anyway. -- E-mail sent to this address may be devoured by my ravenous SPAM filter. I still have 1.6 and haven't found any problem with Mavericks. I guess I'll click the updater anyway.
