How would you describe the joining procedure?

Thunderbird asks me if I'd like to 'Subscribe' to various newsgroups but
I do not have to pay to use the ex-Mozilla service.

payment isn't the issue.

It's important - if you don't use it you cannot review URLs like this:-

https://www.facebook.com/clamxav

Note that the page has 379 followers!

Note too that Terri Paxton has received no response to the question he
asked 5 days ago.

wrong.

one need not be a facebook user to visit a facebook page.

The probability is high that ’Terri Paxton’ is David Brooks.

Well it's not. I use my OWN name. Facebook requires folk to be honest.

You can ask Terri yourself if he's satisfied with a service that refuses
to respond to him. But I know you won't. But if you DID, I'll respond
to you there!

nope. facebook *wants* people to be honest. not everyone is.

...Last week, Sandberg met with the SIC and said that from October
2017 through to March 2018, Facebook deleted a mind blowing 1.3
billion fake accounts. That's 1,300,000,000 to put it into
perspective, out of the 2,250,000,000 that use it every month.

I don’t believe you.

I’m sure that you have multiple accounts, just as you use multiple nyms on
usenet.

Quite correct. Facebook wants ‘real’ names so that they can sell adspace.
And ’Terri’ posts in a style quite similar to that of our fav stalker.

Quite so. More evidence supporting the hypothesis that our stalker is an
idiot, not that any is needed.

You act like Facebook is the end all. Some people don't believe Facebook
is important to their lives.

I have have to be Facebook to access that URL, provided it is open to
the public. Besides I have no interest in going there. I and others here
don't need your saving us.
