TechRadar and AZCentral have fair walk-throughs. Lifewire at https://www.lifewire.com/create-os-x-recovery-hd-on-any-drive-2260909 gives the procedure to create a rescue disk, either DVD or USB, using nothing but the tools Apple provides for free. As you are a complete idiot, I'll let you into a secret: the four examples I just gave are the first four hits on a google search for "create rescue dvd mac os". There are many more. Everyone else here knows about this already. When you stated that rescue disks for Macs did not exist, you again, as usual, demonstrated your gross ignorance and stupidity. > >>>>> Do you realise that modern iMacs don't have a CD player built-in? >>>> >>>> Are they also missing USB ports? >>> >>> I'd have thought a lad with your experience would KNOW that a CD or >>> DVD is too big to fit into a USB port. <shaking head in disbelief> >>> >> >> You're trolling again, and in a fashion even more idiotic than normal. > > You didn't scroll down to read way down below my name in my 'signature' > did you?!!! ;-) > No. Why should I, or anyone else, waste our time? You're a troll. Trolling is what trolls do. Every time you do something like this your credibility takes another hit. This is why you no longer have any credibility whatsoever. I don't believe it would ever be necessary for a current operating system. Starting with Command +R works just fine to reach Recovery Mode. You knowingly lie (and take great pride as you do so) about others whenever it suits you to do so. You stalk people, you threaten to blackmail and sometimes, make good on your threats. You've spent years online, stalking people. I can't find any posts where you've been helpful. You brought the subject up, show us a post on usenet (where this discussion and your claim took place) where you actually helped someone, and, didn't try stalking them or asking them to help you stalk another individual. And while you're doing that, how about coming clean with your story: Message-ID: <U4d7E.155475$fJ4.131294@fx09.fr7> I used to have regular chats by telephone with Jax. I know EXACTLY what you did and the lies you told to have Jax's ISP account closed down. Jax also shared with me by email the correspondence with the ISP involved. **** end paste You're making ALL of that up. I never contacted jax or their isp. Didn't even know the name of their isp, and, still don't. More importantly, never cared enough to find out. Jax was obviously a troll that showed up shortly after pooh got reamed good in his own coding contest he created to avoid answering a simple question about what a program I wrote does. He couldn't read the source code well enough to answer my question, and his efforts to dance around the subject in the end didn't help him. I still 0wned him, at his own contest no less. Did you know he accused me of cheating because I shaved off over 400bytes in one move? [g] I used my own exe header instead of compiling to a native exe file. Had pooh been a real coder, he would have used that optimization trick himself, sooner than I did. And, he wouldn't have accused me of cheating for going that route. I didn't cheat, it's just that unlike him, I am actually a coder, not a script kiddie, so I know how to make my own exe headers, and pooh does not. [g] Not only did I consistently reduce my final output binary smaller than he could, mine retained actual functionality and could have easily been converted to a subroutine to be called many times, poohs could not. His would have exhausted all available file handles in a short period of time, he opted to remove important code to reduce filesize. In other words, he stopped releasing the file handle to previously opened files to reduce code space, relying completely on the ntvdm to clean up after him - and it only does that when your program is completely finished executing. So, if you converted his to a subroutine and tried to call it multiple times, it would quickly exhaust available file handles and no longer function as expected, and it wouldn't tell you it was having a problem either. (he had no error handler, stripped that out to reduce filesize too) Those are not traits of a coder, David. They are traits of a script kiddie. Whats even worse, his program wouldn't bother to check if you were trying to run it against an exe file, by looking at the first two magic bytes; yes, he stripped that routine out to reduce code size too; I didn't have to strip out functionality or cripple my code to beat him. I, unlike pooh, didn't bs about my coding skill or ability, and I more than proved that with his contest by kicking his ass all around the block at each opportunity. He continued stripping functionality to reduce filesize and made the math routines more complicated than necessary, wasting bytes that he tried to save previously by removing other routines. He couldn't even describe the purpose of the routines he removed, because, he didn't really understand the language used for the contest; although (and yes, thats still funny to me) he thought he understood it well enough to kick my ass with his contest. He was wrong. I picked ASIC because nobody who claimed to be a coder would take the assembler bait to prove they weren't. I knew he wasn't what he claimed to be, and, ASIC was a perfect fucking choice to prove it. It's a deceptively simple looking language. <G> He isn't the first one to have his ass handed to him thinking he knew more than he did with that language, either. I used the same trick as a teenager on more than a few older adults at the time who considered themselves to be quite the coding masters. They weren't. Did you know I won a bet as a teenager with a piece of code, David? I sure did. Someone who was several years older than myself who thought age mattered in the digital world mistakenly assumed his antivirus would bail him out of any situation, nobody could get past it. With his permission and money on the line, we tested his theory with one of my first (most primitive) viruses. It, as I fully expected, had no difficulty doing it's thing with his AV running in the background. That was probably the easiest $500 I ever made. In all fairness, I knew ahead of time his AV wouldn't be a problem because it didn't have a signature for the virus and I tried to explain how that worked to him, prior to accepting his offer and taking his money. When he got cocky with me and pulled out the number 500 for the bet, it was game on. Not only was a good chunk of change on the line, so was the ability to put that person in their rightful place, and, I sure as hell wasn't going to let that opportunity pass me by. After I collected my reward, I removed the virus completely from his computer with my own av specifically written for the virus I used. Pooh reminded me of that fellow when he tried his i'm a coder and you aren't nonsense. The hell I'm not. :) The only difference between him and that person, aside from a payday from me, is the satisfaction of schooling pooh in coding 101 in front of a large body of people. Anyone who reads alt.comp.freeware. That's worth more than $500 to me, anyday. Nothing like taking someone down a few pegs who thinks they are superior to you in all ways. [g] Incorrectly thinks that. rofl. -- The most effective way to remember your wife's birthday is it once.
