Hello all,

Will OSX Yoshmite have a Package Manager? Or will it suck as OSX usually does.

FFS. Why are you using a UNIX based system without a Package Manager? Please tell me why!

Please tell me why you can't even spell the name of the next operating
system properly.

His name is "Dick Fiddler"… I guess that makes it harder to type with
one hand.

Plus, with that handle, I'd hazard a guess that a "package" manager
would be essential!

Here in the USA, the current, and all too apropos, slang is
"junk." As in, "Keep your (TSA) hands off my junk." Those
needing a good laugh can feed that into their favorite search
engine.

Many of us merely would like people to actually get a life and get an OS with a Package Manager.

It has one -- it's called the (gak!) "App Store."

You do realise I did say Package Manager. Not some commercial tat which is a poor substitute.

What makes you think those third-party apps are poor substitutes?

What makes you think that OS X needs a package manager?

I do. What exactly is the difference? It has boat
loads of free stuff, says what versions of the OS any
particular package (or bundle, in Applespeak) will
run on, et cetera. I'm no fan of the app store, or
package managers either - I'd rather do it myself.
But, since Linux also has commercial software, there
is not a dime's worth of difference between them.

One has to wonder just how seriously you take life that the mere
possibility of a Linux package manager not existing on another platform
pisses you off so much you'd actually invest this much time and energy
ranting and trolling about it. Kinda says something about your character
and emotional stability, me thinks. Anyhow, regarding this supposedly
horrible lack of a "package manager" built into Mac OS X, anyone who
regularly uses both Mac OS X and multiple *nix platforms can attest that
not only is it brain-dead easy to install one of several Linux-style
package managers in OS X, but OS X's built-in solution to application
package management is in many ways much better than most *nix package
managers. And that probably really pisses off someone like you. : )

Looks like you are truly enjoying managing your "package", according to your
most recent nymshift, trollboi...

Wow, a person who uses a UNIX based system does not know what a Package Manager is!

No wonder Mac users are brain dead losers.

If you don't need it, there's no reason to know what it is.

No wonder we use our Macs to actually Get Things Done instead of
futzing around with the OS all the time.

While you're stalled in your back yard tinkering with your car's
engine, we're driving ours on the freeway of life.
