This is an article about Jony Ive ousting Greg Christie who was the
Human Interface VP and moving that staff under his own industrial design
organisation. (in effect building his own empire instead of cooperating)

In that article is the revelation that OS-X 10.10 will adopt the "flat"
user interface introduced in IOS-7.

Goodbye buttons, hello 1980s's Lynx look with light blue text indicating
a clickable item. "Back to MAC" still alive and well, unfortunatly.

More importantly, either Tim Cook is allowing Ive to become the next
Steve Jobs with control over all products, or Tim Cook isn't a good CEO
and can't manage internal wars and alloing empire building by Ive who is
becoming too important to fire ("too big to fail" in banking terms)

The thought has begun to cross my mind that perhaps it is time to fire
Ive now before he wrecks all of Apple with internal power fights and
gains so much control that he can't manage it all.

It was credible that they fired Forstall because he couldn't work with
Ive. But if a trend starts that a lot of people are being fired because
they can't work with Ive, perhaps the problem isn't wirth those people
but rather with Ive.

I guess it's a slow day for the "Apple is DOOMED" crowd... *yawn*

I'm really happy with the IOSification of Safari. Who needs tabs or
more windows when you can just swipe through pages? Not me! Heh.

Johnny Ive is a hardware designer ... he hasn't got the first clue
about software design, and it shows. He shouldn't be allowed anywhere
near iOS or OS X. The "fame" has obviously gone to his head. :-(

I wouldn't go that far. But it looks to me like Apple has always been
very "religious" about its beliefs in how software/hardware should
behave and that the religion came from one and only one leader. With the
departure of Steve Jobs, it may have left a void and Cook may want to
re-establish that "one leader" philosophy and give Ive the reigns.

One difference I see is that Jobs apparently allowed many idean to be
brought to him and would dismiss all or almost all of them and choose
what seems to be the least worse one, and sometimes would make his own
suggestions.

But for Ive, I get the impression it all comes from him instead of ideas
froming to him. Just an impression, I have no facts to back this up.

Type: instead of ideas *flowing* to him.

Thanks for the correction. I thought you were making a reference to the
COME FROM statement.

P.S. For purely selfish reasons I welcome the much publicised return to
using GOTO in programming. In my payroll debugging days I got rather
good at deciphering spaghetti code, so bring it on, I say :-) :-) :-)

Someco. decided to reward bug finders with $100 every time they found a
bug in the source code.

Wonders be! The programmers found far more bugs than the people in SQA...

The reward program was terminated the next month and the programmers had
to find new sources of supplementary income...

I'm sure there will be a reply here soon.

Personally, I cannot stand the look or feel of IOS 7. It appears to be the
design and thought of a kindergartner just learning to draw and put thoughts
together. What drew me to OS-X was the "dimensionality" of the interface. If
it gets any more like IOS 7, I will stay away. My .02...

Yep, it's awful, as is the partial "flattening" of mac OS X 10.9. If I
wanted an ugly, unusable OS, I'd buy a Windoze box. :-(

Someone has posted some *CONCEPT* images of what *THEY THINK* Mac OS X
10.10 might look like:

Pray tell how 10.9 is unusable?

I still don't understand the translucent cult within Apple. Why do they
insist on imposing this absolutelty useless concept which only reduces
ease of readability ?
