I'd have been interested to see that (I certainly don't carry a torch for
Microsoft), but given that I'm semi-retired, I doubt that'll happen now.

What are you using right now that can deal with a network that size?

You know, I question the "300,000 laptops/desktops." What?

Oops! That should have said Apple and IBM (not HP) have a new
partnership for enterprise-level solutions. Apple was talking with HP
at one stage, but went with IBM instead.

Hey, easily confused, they were both ugly PC-box makers. ;-)

There are many, many companies that allow their employees to use either
Mac or Windoze (or anything else sensible). The servers and the
hardware manufacturer are irrelevant as long as the software needed to
do the work is available for Mac ... and as long as the IT department
aren't a bunch of "Windoze only" morons scared of losing their jobs
when employees computers actually do what they're meant to do without
Bluescreening every five minutes.

As I said, MS doesn't have anything that Apple needs or wants.

That has nothing to do with Apple buying Microsoft.

Not quite. I see more Macs and iPad and iPhones in corporate culture now
than ever before.

So have I, for the past 20+ years.

It used to be that Mitsubishi was responsible for ~1% of the world's
entire economic activity.

                    that's your problem.

Yeah, but Mitsubishi has fingers in many many pies: cars, washing
machines, fridges, DVD players, TV recorders, etc. as well as
manufacturing pieces for other big name companies to put in their
devices or simply stick their badge on.

Same can be said for Samsung. I have a GE refrigerator; I saw a
Samsung one that is virtually identical to mine. I doubt that GE made
it for Samsung, though.

I currently have a Dell labelled display plugged into my computer, but
with the exception of the label, it's exactly the same display as the
previous Samsung oe I had (I even re-used the swivel/tilt stand that
clips onto the bottom).

Samsung and LG do both make a variety of electronic and household
appliance products ... but Mitsubishi has an even wider net to include
things like cars which are in higher price brackets.

I don't know a lot about GE since they aren't really a big name down
here in New Zealand.

I think that shipping costs start to become an issue when you are
talking fridges, so it may make sense to build locally (as used to be
the case in Canada with CAMCO).
