Are you sure..-)? - What about WriteNOW? AppleWorks? MacWrite II/Pro? - All these need classic envirement, and the G5 does run OS X 10.4 + OS 9.2.2 faster than a delayed lightning...:-) I've just sold my G5 Dual 1,8ghz, 2gb RAM + 2x500gb HD for 1500Dkr. apprx. $275USd to a one here who needs to be able to run a fast OS 9.2.2 - primarely to be able to convert old text files - and play some of the real old Mac games... I delievered a modified OS 9.2.2 pre-installed on the machine along with both Tiger and Leopard. All the resource files (.rsrc) in the OS 9.2.2 are optimized and has also been modified so it can handle more memory than the std. system. It handles up to apprx. 380mb in the system itself. I don't need it that much anymore since I also have a well-functioning OS 9.2.2 bootable 1,25ghz MDD, 2gb RAM, 2x320gb HD + 2x500gb HD with the same modified OS 9.2.2 system + 2x MacPro Xeon DualCore, a 4x2,66ghz and a 4x3,0ghz. - Plus I also still have my 17" Powe3rBook G4/1,67ghz... When I recycled my G4, I kept those parts for spares. A 250G drive is probably a waste but if you don't want to keep it, you can disassemble it and destroy the disk surfaces. They have some nice magnets. And maybe you can use a good stepping motor. -- DeeDee, don't press that button! DeeDee! NO! Dee... Macs are usually understood by the kids or than the teachers. Older Macs are more problem than they're worth because they're so hard to keep up-to-date. At least with an aging PC, they can drop Linux on it or an version of XP if it's current enough. -- DeeDee, don't press that button! DeeDee! NO! Dee... Maintenence, software, training, backup, electricity, security. Some of these costs can be quite high, or quite difficult (Software, especially). And then, do you want to start relying on an old piece of hardware for something, even something mundane? -- I WILL NOT GREASE THE MONKEY BARS Bart chalkboard Ep. 7F17
