#49387 — Mavericks update

FromAlan Browne <alan.browne@FreelunchVideotron.ca>
Date2013-10-04 18:29 -0400
SubjectMavericks update
Message-ID<5ZSdnUrXr5LM3NLPnZ2dnUVZ_voAAAAA@giganews.com>
Please confirm:

Since I just bought this iMac (even if a lowly late 2012 refurb from
Apple) I assume I'll be eligible for a free Mavericks OS update.

But I also assume that that update is not applicable to my other 3 Macs?

So I might as well just buy the upgrade license and apply same to all 4
Macs.

(PS: Golden Master went out to developers yesterday so we should see it
by the end of the month ...).

Why not wait until it's released, and find out?

If Mavericks comes out within 14 days of your purchase, I think (based on past upgrades) Mavericks will be free for you. Maybe.

I am not positive they did that with 10.8, since it was so cheap (it
would have been $3 per computer for me had I had to buy it).

10.8 was released on July 25. People who'd bought computers as early
as June 10 got the free upgrade.

Oh. You're right. Let's talk about women who think they were shot in
their driveway instead.

Nah, let others talk about it. In the meantime we can talk about Mac OS X
10.10, reportedly codenamed "Syrah" internally.

Really? That seems like an odd name.

It's a type of wine. The internal code name for Mavericks was "Cabernet",
which is another kind of wine.

I hear some people make juice from grapes and can even (get this)
ferment the juice into wine and then distill the leavings into spirits!

I drink Guinness and tequila. Not much of a wine drinker.

Yep, but as with most things, it tastes much better in the original
form (inside the grape) before some fool mucks about with it. :-)

Some people even stupidly leave the grapes out in the sun until they go
all shrivelled and disgusting ... and then they eat them?! Someone in
California even managed to teach these wrinkly things to sing. ;-)
