Not all of them I'm happy to say. I know a bunch who are quite religious
and/or conservative. They still respect others and even if they never
articulated the concept above, they seem to just naturally get that you
live your own way, lead by example, and respect others who choose to
live differently, even if you disagree with them.

I guess at the heart of the matter, I wonder why many others - far too
many - don't seem to get that concept either actively or instinctively.
It seems a fairly fundamental pillar of the human condition. Simple
respect for one another.

<snip>

Religious people rarely respect others. In fact religous people are
often the worst bigots, self-rightous and self-important morons you'll
ever meet ... especially those idioits who go around knock on your door
trying to "convert" you or of course when they reach the fanatic level
like Osma Bin Liner.

Religion, greed, and envy are the three main causes of wars.

You are referring to something that has been SOP since the formation of
Congress and, even though I agree, it AIN'T gonna stop any time soon. It is
how the MAJORITY of Bills are passed, usually for 'pork'. Welcome to the

Internal rules of the House of Representatives say that amendments to bills
must be germane to the bill. However, those same rules say that if no one
objects to an amendment that is not germane to the bill, the amendment is
allowed.

The Senate has no prohibition of nongermane amendments before cloture.

You mean, the world of US politics. Luckily, here, by and large it
doesn't happen. And I'm well aware of how pork gets added in the US
Congress. It's one of the major defects of the US governmental system
and you are indeed stuck with it now.

I blame the Tea Party Republicans, specifically those in the House of
Representatives, for there not being any money to pay for those services.
Do you expect the government employees to work for nothing, and for the
outside companies that provide product and services to do so without
getting paid?

The Washington Times, like Fox News, is a propaganda machine for the far
right; I don't trust much, if anything, they report.

In other words, civilian contractors have been told they can't be paid, so
they can't work. Just like many other employees and contractors. They are
not military chaplains. Military chaplains are commissioned officers in
the active military, reserves, or National Guard.

You see no irony in you quoting a "former" Communist?

Negotiating with the Tea Party:

Tea Party: Can I burn down your house?
Obama: NO!
Tea Party: Can I just burn down the second floor?
Obama: NO!
Tea Party: The garage?
Obama: NO!
Tea Party: Then lets talk about what I can burn down....
Obama: NO!
Tea Party: YOU AREN'T COMPROMISING!

I thought the Republican Party had nipped it before it had done too much
damage and sent Sarah palin back to Alaska where she can watch Russia
from her mountain facing Wasila balcony.

When people speak of the Tea Party now, do they simply refer to the more
right wing elements inside the republican party ? Or is there still a
separate organisation seeking to change the Republican Party ?

Out of curiosity, if the Republican party decided to be more centrist
and kick out its right wing nuts, foregoing the bible thumping anti
abortionist gun lovers in exchange for gaining a lot of undecided and
soft democratic votes, would the republican party be better off ?

or would Sarah palin come back with a formal Tea Party (a 3rd option)
and split votes, reducing the Republican party's chances ?

It is not a formal political party; it is a movement that uses the name
"Tea Party". Members of the Tea Party had called themselves "teabaggers"
until they discovered that that word has a sexual connotation.

It doesn't take much checking to find out that this is a hoax. So the
people spreading this are

a) lying, and they know it, or

b) too lazy or apathetic to check (they don't care whether it is true,
only that it supports their political views).

Kerby is not stupid. He's a Republican; therefore, he's misguided, but
