Many negative reports in the past on Quicken with Macs. Any experiences and recommendations here for the new 2015 version for Macs?

For me the big problem is coming from Quicken 2007, the new version
will not pay bills. Not sure if it will update your stock portfolio.

It does update your stock portfolio.

I set up my bill payments on the various creditors' web sites. Even
when I was using Quicken 2006, I did it that way because Quicken
charged to use Quicken Bill Pay.

I don't use QBP but Q2007 will send paper or electronic checks to
anyone for free (at least with my bank through direct connect). That
way I can categorize my payments.

I've never used QBP. Does it give all the other companies access to
your bank account, or are all the payments handled by a single entity
(your bank or Intuit)?

I don't know; I've never used QBP because they charged for the service.

I've been using it for months, but all I use it for is to keep track of
my checkbook and credit cards, downloading from the various companies'
sites.

That said, I don't have any complaints about it. Most, if not all, of
the complaints I've read have to do with securities, budgeting, etc.,
none of which I use.

Does it do it automatically or do you have to go to each site and
export/import?

Automatically, except for GE Money Bank.

I don't use those features, either, but I've stayed with Quicken 2006
because Intuit removed some major features from subsequent versions that
I did want. I seem to remember something really important like not being
able to download transactions from your bank? Michelle, do you recall what
was removed, and if so, are those features back now?

The features they removed are ones I never used; I'm not sure what they
are, nor whether any of them have been restored.

I've been using Quicken for literally decades now and QW2014 was the main reason I ran Fusion/Win7 on my rMBP. I've followed all of Intuit's massive screwups with the Mac version (not really a version - a completely separate and incompatible program) and stayed far away from them.

I've been following their forum on a brand new Mac version for many months ( https://qlc.intuit.com/users/62345-quicken-jeff ) and finally bought it a couple of months ago when it looked like it was a usable product. So far, I really like it. I don't use budgeting and minimally use the stock features. The stock updates work fine and direct account info transfers fine for AMEX but not for my bank so I have to download as QFX and then import. A pain, but the Intuit people claim it's up to the banks not them and it's per version so a bank could talk to QW2014 but not QM2015.

My only bill-pays are monthly automatics from my bank's website so I've never had any reason to use Quicken's.

 David
