Absolutely. Genres and plots are details. There are good movies in every genre, and terrible ones as well. Plot? What the hell do I care about the plot of a movie? Unless it is something with a effective twist (the Crying Game) the plot is meaningless to whether I will see a movie as it is something that is only important with the confines of the movie. A bad story with great acting is still very watchable and enjoyable (Joe Versus the Volcano) while even the greatest story imaginable will not survive terrible acting (or direction). The things that matter most to me are the director and the actors, everything else is secondary, including the writing. Genre and plot are so far down the list they don't even register. > That knowing the names of Oscar winning actors makes you a movie > watcher? If the script, plotting, and/or directing is bad, it's going to be a bad movie, regardless of how good the actors are. Without the story, it is nothing. > The things that matter most to me are the director and the actors, > everything else is secondary, including the writing. Yes, bad acting and/or directing can turn a good story into a crappy movie, and my secondary criteria are how well it is acted and directed; I judge that by the trailers and by recommendations of friends unless I'm familiar with the actors and directors.

There are movies with terrible scripts and absurd plots that are still quite enjoyable movies with good acting. Like I said, Joe Versus the Volcano is on example. Terrible script, absurd plot. So, every version of Pride and Prejudice is equivilant for you because they are all telling the same story and the story is the most important thing. That seems very peculiar to me. I very much like the book Emma, but the only movie version of Emma that I really like is Clueless. Albeit, I've still not seen the most recent miniseries from a few years back, and it's supposed to be quite good. -- 'Never say die, master. That's our motto, eh?' That seems very peculiar to me. I guess that you didn't read that very closely; let me reiterate, "bad acting and/or directing can turn a good story into a crappy movie." "The most important thing" does not mean "The only thing"; I am not Vince Lombardi.

Knowing who was/is married to whom has nothing to do with what movies they appeared in together. But to answer your question, one movie they've been in together was Mr. and Mrs. Smith. They met when making that movie, and that was the start of Brangellina.
