You think there's only greater and lesser evils? I disagree; the FSM and
IPU are the epitome of goodness.

In Québec, years ago, we have the Rhinoceros party. One of their
promises should they get elected was to repeal the law of gravity.

They ceased to exist after an election where they almost got one of
their candidates elected :-)

Funny how the US government claims to be shutdown, but NSA and CIA are
still at it 100%. I feel that DC area restaunrants should stop serving
any congressman/senator until this is resolved.

They may look better when they're trying to get votes, but as soon as
they are actually voted into office they turn out to be Crawling
Spaghetti Mess and the Highly Visible Prison-striped Zebra. Just like
all the other lying, cheating, greedy, selfish, morons before them.

Matthew is a typical liberal progressive with a BA in Art History who is
always ANGRY because the GOP has been "unfair" to him. He lost any sense of
humor along with the ability to wipe his own butt.

And you, my dear, are the 'misguided' one, LOL!

To really bring it back on topic ("Woman Shot in Driveway") ... I guess
that's what happens when silly American laws allow parking wardens to
carry guns ... "Oi! You parked in a No Parking Zone, and didn't wait
for me to write up the ticket ... *bang!*" ;-)

I've never seen a meter maid with a gun.

Perhaps you are able to recognise the characteristics that allow you to
distinguish between members of the myriad of different police forces in
the US, and the various official and semi-official look-alikes. Even
though I lived there for 12 years, I was still unable to do so at the
time I made my escape to safety.

Well, around here, Meter maids 1) don't have badges 2) don't have guns
3) don't have police uniforms 3) don't drive police cars 4) don't get
out of their vehicles. So, it would be very hard to mistake them for
police.

What, none at all? So anyone dinging you for parking could just as well

How do you book someone (that is, leave a ticket on their car) without
getting out? Or is long arms a prerequisite for the job? (Cue jokes

They have a scanner that scans license plates and prints tickets, which
they then stick under the window.

>> 2) don't have guns

I don't know if I would go *that* far.

They drive along next to the parked cars and stick the tickets under the wipers.

>> So, it would be very hard to mistake them for police.

If you see someone driving along putting parking tickets on cars, it's
pretty sure it's a meter maid.

Probably not named Rita, either.

Maybe by "vehicles" he meant that they use Woz's favourite toy, the
Segway. ;-)

Here in New Zealand some city councils claim the Segway are "vehicles"
and so cannot be used on footpaths. They must be used on the roads ...
but they can't go on the roads because they don't fit the legal
requirements for a vehicle (lights, etc.) and don't qualify as
bicycles.

Please don't encourage them. The morons in government (local and
national) already have enough of their own idiotic ideas to waste
tax-payer money on. :-(
