Nope, if the product was sold in France, then the profit goes back to
Apple France and the tax paid to the French government ... it has
nothing to do with America.

Of course greedy Governments trying to cover their ever increasing
debts will try to double/triple-dip the btax system - so that product
sold in France will be legally manoevered to have been bought by Apple
France from Apple America, and therefore add American tax to that
"sale".

But there are a huge pile of logistical problems. When there is no
Apple in the country - for example, there is no "Apple New Zealand", so
that would mean sales here would have be lodged with either Apple
Australia or Apple Asia-Pacific (and this one brings more issues).

Apple then has to also get money back from all the regions to
contribute to R&D, etc., which will then be taxed by America.

The easy way out of the logistical mess is for Apple to simply stop
selling worldwide. Go back to the system of Apple resellers rather than
having it's own stores. Apple sells to a reseller, Apple pays American
tax and the reseller pays local tax.

The US is one of two or three countries that taxes it's corporations
(and FWIW individuals) no matter where the money is made.

Big issue in Australian politics at the moment.

You also have the reading comprehension of a slug.

This proposal would allow companies to bring money into the US that
would be taxes at a MUCH lower rate. Money that they cannot use in the
US right now at all.

And money which the USA does not tax right now. (unless patriated to
USA). The proposal would see it taxed whether left offshore or patriated
to USA.

Note that in the case of Apple, it isn't about repatriating money since
this is money that was never made in USA, it was made by selling abroad.

So this represents a net tax increase for Apple. But yeah, once they
have paid that forced tax, then they can bring that money in.

Easy solution: Apple lowers prices from now on and runs completely as a
"non-profit" organisation, so therefore wouldn't need to pay taxes
(other than sales tax) in many places. ;-)

Apple could spin off its subsidiaries outsude USA into separate
corporation with AAPL and AAPL2 shares. The USA govt could then not
touch AAPL2 profits since it would not be a USA corporation and would
not be owned by AAPL.

AAPL2 could then issue dividends from its irish piggy bank, while AAPL
would do so from the one in Cuppertino.

Of course, there will be high level lobbying done to prevent foreign
earnings from being taxed, with likely a compromise to allow 14% tax
when patriating money from abroad (but only for that money that is
patriated).

Then that money would not be Apple's, and Apple couldn't use it for
anything.

Same as now. AAPL2 could contract with AAPL to develop software, develop
new trinkets. It is a way Apple currently uses money in ireland to fund
development in california.

With that line of thinking, maybe you could become the next Sec of Treasury,
it is just about as logical as anything this administration has set forth.

I used the wrong word, I should have said "appliances". And of course
the underlying OS.
