I think I see why you prefer to be called Gyles. A lot of people laugh at the name "William" because they've never heard it before. According to Wikipedia, Bill Gates' real name is William; and actor John Russell's real name was William. If my name were William and I didn't want the waitress at Starbucks to laugh at me, I'd probably change it to "Billster." That's just a suggestion. Another possibility is "Little Willy."
