Then you either have to use river / lake water, de-salinate sea water,
or simply go without coffee. ;-)

May I recommend the Gene roaster set up in your garage? That's where
mine is and wifey loves the aroma, though not if permeating the whole
house.

Got a great machine from Chris' Coffee Service in Albany, a Quickmill
Andreja. Best cappuccino ever.

Must be nice! Then again, I guess I'm comfortable with my level of
laziness: getting yummy dark roasted beans from a local roaster rather
than investing the time and money into roasting my own. Growing them
here in the Pacific northwest would be silly, if not impossible. : D

Mine's just a lowly $600 Breville Barista Express, but it is reliable
and makes a perfect shot every single time. I make espresso Starbucks
customers can only dream of. : )

Perhaps! But then I'd probably move to someplace cooler anyway. I love
the weather up here. : D

Well, you could always build a 25,000 sq. foot greenhouse with a lot of
heating and extra lighting to grow your own. I'm sure there are folks
around who grow another crop similarly but not quite in the open who
could advise you!

Beating Starbuck's is like saying it's better than MJB out of a six
month old can!

:)

I have a Breville- started with it, then went to a La Pavoni lever
machine, and now, cannot blame the equipment! I never seem to get rid of
any expensive equipment - so I have a G3, 4 and 5 in the garage, some
early MacBooks in a box. Would have a Mac Plus and SE 30 but they were
stolen. Oh, as was an iMac with a large screen.

If he did that, his place would soon be swarming with DEA agents.
There's another crop that needs that kind of environment.

Luckily that's legal here. : )

Yeah, sure, I just don't see the ROI, since it would mostly be for
little, old me. : )

True, that.

Looks like a *very* nice piece of equipment, I'll give you that.

Shame about the plus and SE! : ( I still have my dad's SE and a few
others sitting here. I do tend to resell my main workstations whenever I
upgrade to newer ones these days, to offset the cost.

Nothing lowly about Breville’s.. I have a Saeco superautomatic at home..

I was skeptical at first due to the low price, but have to say I have
been extremely pleased with it. I got it at a $120 discount back in
2011 - paid $519 for it. It's extremely reliable and makes a consistent
shot every time. Great machine for the money, IMO.

The coffee is free at work, so most coffee drinkers take full advantage
of it. Not being a coffee drinker, this doesn't benefit me at all.
There's also free soda (two fountain dispensers in two separate areas of
the building). The free soda mostly doesn't benefit me.

But the free tea and hot chocolate did benefit me.

Ya' see, that's the thing-- calling it free. It ain't free.

It comes out of the pocket of the owners of the company-- likely the
boss and his family if the company is privately held-- or the stock
holders if it's publicly traded. And if it is publicly traded, some of
the stock is no doubt owned my mutual funds of which I have several. So
I probably paid for it.

Do I even get a "thanks" or an offer to come by and wash my car or mow
my lawn? Hell no, that's gratitude for ya'.

I didn't thank you for my medical care or paid time off either. And
I'm not going to.
