iMessage is encrypted, and as far as I know, the SMS sent from or to your 
Mac is using the same old encryption.

So
1. Your Mac -> Encrypt -> iCloud
2. iCloud -> iPhone -> Decrypt
3. Send to cell company (unencrypted)
