We had bought a Brother laser printer from Costco, and it wouldn't print right, even after a number of attempts to get it working, including speaking with Brother Technical Support. We sent it back, and bought an HP 1020n laser printer in 2007 or so. We've never had a problem keeping its drivers up to date, and it works perfectly in Yosemite. Oddly enough, for a while we had a Lenovo laptop running Windows 7, and we couldn't get that driver to work. Finally tried a workaround I found on the HP forums, which worked, but we retired the laptop shortly thereafter, so now it isn't an issue. We have had pretty good luck with Epson inkjets, and have an Epson all-in-one working now. Works well with all my Macs (3 of them) and with our iPad.
