This is really weird... - I'd put my hands on a legal bootable OS X 10.6.3 diskimage which I wanted to burn onto a DVD... - Went to the shelf and picked a box with Verbatim 8,5gb 16x DVD+ DL medias. Opened Toast 10 and put a DVD into the SuperDrive - a Pioneer DVR-118L (retail edition of the std. SuperDrive DVR-117D also called DVR-127A/BK)... It burned the image and then suddenly stopped around 99% with an error that the media was defective. Tried once more with a new media. Now it only burned apprx. 20% before showing the error message. Tried with a third media - this time using the Finder to burn... Same error after apprx. 20% has been burned... Went again to the shelf and pickted a FujiColor 10x DVD+ DL and tried again - same error. Went again to the shelf and this time I took my 8 year old external Formac Firewire DVD drive with a nearly new Sony DW-Q23A unit and again let Finder burn the image on a Verbatim 16x DVD+ DL media... It took it's time, but the disk was made without errors... I put the new 10.6.3 install disk into the Pioneer drive and the drive won't mount the DVD - no problems mounting it on the Formac drive... Put various DVD +/- SL's and CDs into the Pioneer drive - all were mounted. Also burned a DVD+ SL 16x TDK with some camera software and manuals for my Olympus E-510 DSLR - no problems. - Also burned a CD-R just to test - no problems. The Pioneer DVR-118L has burned a mix of apprx. 200 DVDs and CDs without problems, but only maybe 2 DL medias - one with a 10.6.0 and one with a 10.7.3 (for my second MacPro Xeon 4x3,0ghz - both were the Verbatim DVD+ DL type. Hardware: MacPro Xeon 4x2,66ghz, 16gb RAM, OS X 10.5.8 + 10.6.8 Anyone have any ideas what can be the problem with the Pioneer drive? - Why can it burn DVD +/- SL and any type of CDR but not DVD+ DL medias? Btw. this is the first time ever I've had any problems with a Pioneer DVD burner...
