I haven't tried Ubuntu, but Kubuntu is mostly good. The cross-platform
programs like firefox and calibre are mostly the same but updates
come later by a few days or the the next Kubuntu upgrade.

The Kubutu file viewer changes file dates everytime a file is viewed
and I don't see a way to associate comments to a file like Mac
OS X can. Is there a date preserving file viewer?
