That does not seem to be an option. Don't be silly. Of course it's an option. It's View > Sort by > None. Suggesting that it's not an option just because very occasionally it doesn't work as it should is just plain disingenuous. Again, all software has bugs. You seem to have found one. There's nothing you can do about it except wait for Apple to fix it. As this seems to be an edge case, the waiting period may be longer than if it were a very common problem. It's probably best not to let it ruin your day. ; ) >> Seriously, the Desktop isn't a good choice for a place to store >> documents, aliases or much of anything else. I've been setting up Mac desktops since OS 4. I was asking about > a situation when it does *not* behave properly (i.e. placing an icon > very far from where I dropped it). I'm not sure what more you want anyone here to say about it. We've discussed the gamut of the issue. We've asked you questions you refuse to answer. We've offered suggestions you've refused to follow. And you're still apparently dissatisfied. *shrug* Nobody here owes you a solution, BTW. We're all just trying to help. Do keep that in mind. -- E-mail sent to this address may be devoured by my ravenous SPAM filter. I often ignore posts from Google. Use a real news client instead. JR
