Thanks, but I think I've already got that from the original CD that
came with the printer (I'll have to check the version numbers) and it
doesn't seem to have installed any TWAIN plug-in on the old laptop. I
was really hoping for just the TWAIN file itself.  :-(

these are full installers (80MB+) and not only the TWAIN Plugin. I'd 
prefer to download the full installers directly from HP where they are 
available too...
Remember that Your Name is on a dial up connection and maybe does not 
want to download a full installer (which won't install on his beige G3 
anyway, as HP offers drivers for Leopard upwards only).

I already have the "full" installer that came on a CD with the printer
which I installed on a clapped-out G4 iBook, but it doesn't appear to
include any TWAIN plug-in (the Windoze installer apparently does).

I have got the printer part working on my beige G3 (even though the
PowerMac is not supported). I'm trying to get the scanner part working
as well. VueScan doesn't work, so I want to try via a TWAIN plug-in.
