#6703 — Airport Devices under 10.13.6

I'm not sure when or how this changed.  I've been away from this setup 
for a couple of months, but Audio MIDI Setup used to show both my 
AirPlay Router and my Denon AVR.  I could select whatever I wanted 
whenever I wanted.  Now I have to select one (and only one) in System 
Preferences->Sound and if I happen to switch to another output, like 
Built-in, it disappears and has to be re-selected in preferences before 
I can use it again.

Is there a work-around or am I doing something wrong?
