#20435 — VLC not showing visuals

I've asked this before but no one replied, I was hoping updating my
VLC and trying it again would solve problem but it continues not to
show any visuals, only sound. This happens with all movie files? Any
suggestions? Sometimes VLC was the only app that would open some
movies, so was useful.

Snow Leopard, VLC 2.1.2

Any suggestions?

First thing is to reset VLC's preferences. Delete the folder
"org.videolan.vlc" and the file "org.videolan.vlc.plist" in
~/Library/Preferences.

That did it, thanks a lot Warren! Nice to have it working again.

(I should know to go there. But soberly and quietly! You see, the last
time I was in Library I was thrown out by burly security for being
drunk and disorderly, it was reported that I had burst in there
looking for The Balderstone Gang and had caused great commotion)

Ah -- The Balderstone Gang. I heard that they'd abandoned their wicked
ways and moved to a commune in Wyoming. I'm glad VLC is working for you
again. A few versions ago, I remember having to reset it almost every
time I used it. It's a good app, though. Stay out of the Library if you
have overdue books. Stephen King's been writing about evil librarians
for years -- must be some truth in it.

Rule 1: Always bring a few 20-dollar bills and hand them out as
necesary. Burly or otherwise, security tends to be more accomodating.

This happens to me sometimes, but a command-tab (or maybe one and then
another?) solves it.
