MTNW had the ability to mark an entire group as read and move on to the
next, the default key for this was "J". With slrn, this has to be done with
two commands, first the catchup_all command to mark everything read, and
then the skip_to_next_group command to well, you get the idea. Here is an S
Lang script for those of you that want to restore this functionality, like
I did:

define mark_group_read ()
{
	call ("catchup_all");
	call ("skip_to_next_group");
}
definekey ("mark_group_read", "j", "article");

Now, MTNW had the "t" key for "mark this thread read andmove to next" but
that's not as easily accomplished in slrn, unfortunately. If you're reading
a post in a thread, that usually means that the thread is uncollapsed
(open, unfolded), and in order to mark the entire thread read, you need to
collapse it and then hit "d" (delete, mark as read). Problem is that slrn
doesn't have a "collapse_thread" command, only a "toggle_collapse_threads"
function, which collapses or un-collapses the thread, depending on the
state. So, to call these in succession might not always work as it should.

If you're on a post in a thread, "toggle_collapse_threads" will close the
thread and put the marker on the thread, if you then call "delete" it will
mark it as read and then you can call "next" to go to the next article.
Nice and done!

But, if you're paging through the group and haven't opened a thread/post
then your cursor is on the first post in the collapsed thread, and calling
"toggle_collapse_threads" will open that thread, and the "delete" would
only affect the first post in that thread and then open the second post in
it. Sure, hitting "t" again for this would fold it, mark it read and then
go to nexrt, but I still would like to have a seperate "collapse_thread"
function.

Anyway, at least it's something :)

ESC d marks the rest of the thread read, sort of.
